Easter Jeep Safari

Jeep Week started out as a whim...., I wanted to go just once to see what it was all about. Dan had been and said it was fun, so i thought why not. Three years ago, we were about to sell our Jeep and the Bishop's had just purchased their Jeep. I planned the trip dragging them into it. I do want it duly noted that the Bishops were not nearly as excited as we were about the whole thing. I thought for sure they'd back out. And now here we sit.., 3 years later and loving our tradition. In fact.., last year we've even added an extra day. Moab is beautiful country. I have always loved being there and wandering through the many paths and trails it has to offer. It makes it even more fun with friends there who enjoy it just as much.
Each year our trip brings new adventures. This year our husbands chose a trail for Melissa and I to drive. It was rated a 2+ and fairly easy for them. For us, however, it was just perfect. Not too hard, yet challenging enough to keep us on our toes the entire time. The extra day that was added last year has turned into our 4 wheeler day. Last year, being 6 months pregnant during the trip, we sought after a safer option for me. That is when 'the rhino' was introduced to us and a love for the vehicle started. For reals.., this thing is the best machine and pure fun! We love the Rhino.., almost as much as we love Dan's driving goggles!!!
The last day we had another great trail. It wasn't too scary like some from years past.., yet it keep us going with twists and turns the entire day.

So.., this was the view at one point from inside our Jeep. Look close.., this is where I felt like our Jeep was going to tip right over and we were going to roll down the mountain side. Thanks to Dan's skillful driving we were just fine! Those are the highlights from Jeep week 2008. The trip that started out as a whim has turned into a must for our family each year. In fact.., we will always have a Jeep because of it and our family is excited to give the 4 door Jeep a whirl!

Three comments - I love the picture of you and Dan in front of your jeep. It's a great photo-who's your photographer? Also, I had the picture of us in the Rhino - catch any flys with that huge mouth? And lastly, Love the shot with the jeep going up over the step. you got a great shot of the shelf that actually shows the difficulty. Most of our pics never really show the difficulty in real life! We're in for this trip for life now!

crap - can I edit my comment? I meant I "hate" the picture of us in the Rhino - not "had".

Sounds and looks like a grand old time. I think my family and I did it when I was like 8 or 9,,, I get a little nervous when cars start tipping over. I'm a whimp.

That looks like fun! Morgan just got a 4-door Jeep about 9 months ago, and would love to go on a trip like that. I am just now learning about the whole "Jeep culture." I was really confused by all of the other Jeep drivers waving at us or flashing their brights at first. I, personally belong to a much less-cool club: The minivan brigade! Yeah! We don't wave at each other, though, because we are all too busy rushing our kids to soccer games or breaking up fights in the back seat!
