Weekend Project

I love Saturdays! Who doesn't though??? They're the days I get caught up with the rest of the week. Our house is put back together and meals for the coming week are made. I always feel so accomplished when Sunday rolls around. It's also my time do my 'fun' projects that I enjoy. I've been wanting to re-do our kitchen table for some time now. It's dated and old. Dan had it when we got married and since it worked.., we kept it. We've been wanting a new one, but with the all the extra these days with finishing the addition we just don't have the money for items like that. Aunt Renee took Mason to the zoo on Saturday and the wheels started rolling for me of what I could do with my time. So.., out came the sander and paint. I love paint! It revitalizes old pieces and make them feel new. I am so happy with how the table and chairs came out. They look great in our kitchen.I even painted a buffet table to match. There's no room for it now.., but give us a few more month and when the addition is done.., it's gonna look sharp all together. I was planning on distressing it all since Mason is so hard on things..., but it looks so good with the crisp black coat that we decided to leave it. Who knows..., it Mason puts some dings into in the coming months..., we'll distress it. :)

I have the best husband in the world!

I started washing dishes and looked outside to find the boys cutting the lawn together. Dan was so patient with Mason and all of his help. I use the word 'help' loosing because I'm pretty sure it took Dan twice as long to cut the grass with Mason's help.

Labor Day Weekend

Welcome to Pardox, Colorado and to the beautiful Absolution Ranch. We spent Labor Day weekend here with the Bishops and even better...., with no kids. It was the first time in over a year that Dan and I went away over night with out kids! The house we rented had a huge front porch with a gorgeous view. I sat out here each morning. We even had breakfast on the porch one morning. It was so nice with the exception of an antique chair causality and a minor flesh wound for Scott.
Paradox Valley We hiked around some petroglyphs.
Scott was enthralled by them. In fact.., both guys questions their authenticity! Mel and I thought they were totally cool and REAL!We went to the quaint little town of Ouray, Colorado. It was about 2 hours east of where we were staying. The drive was beautiful. The guys humoured us and went to the Hot Springs. The setting around the springs was really neat. Huge high mountains surrounded them.
I crashed pretty much every night before 10pm! I'm SO old! We drove up to Buckeye Reservoir to fish and stopped at an over look along the way.
We even saw a bear! It was the coolest thing! I've never seen one in the forest before. My shoes got stuck in the mud my first cast and I was ankle deep in mud after that. You couldn't get close to the water with out sinking in the mud! Being my first lake fishing experience..., Dan showed me his fishing skills. And I was totally impressed! He caught a fish with his first cast in!Mel caught a fish as well...., and to my shock she killed it over a rock. I would have so made Dan do that if I actually caught a fish. Not only did she kill it.., but she gutted it as well! Gross! The guys relaxing as they man the grill with our yummy trout on it. All and all it was a wonderful weekend!

This kid cracks us up!!!!!

Dan was helping Mason get dressed this morning. Mason kept touching his own nipples and so Dan said, 'that's your nipple son'. Of course Mason starts saying 'nipple nipple, nipple' over and over. That in and of it self made me laugh. Then Dan put Mason's shirt on and Mason says, 'Bye, Nipple' and then blows it a kiss! He repeated the bye and kiss 3 or 4 times. I love this little guy!
