Our little Chunk!

Maya has been nothing like Mason from day one. She's very relaxed and easy going. She is also about twice the size of Mason was when he was her age. At her 2 month check up yesterday she was in the 90 percentile for weight! That's a bit different from our little boy that was at one point in the 7th percentile! I admit, I do love kissing her chubby cheeks!

Real Men Wear Pearls...,

Mason is now tall enough to reach my jewelry box..., thus meaning it's now time for me to move my jewelry box. I found him this morning with pearls wrapped around his neck and arms. You just gotta love this kid!

Hogle Zoo

We've had a family zoo membership since last August and this is the kids first trip. Money well spent! We took their cousin Hannah with us since it was during her spring break. And since it was during spring break, the zoo was PACKED! Kids, moms and strollers everywhere. Mason loved seeing all the animals though and was talking about the 'elefantes' well after we left the zoo. As you can see, Maya thoroughly enjoyed her trip to the zoo!

Props to Tracy Aviary

I have lived in Utah for close to 12 years now and I have never been to Tracy Aviary. Let me start by saying.., it's really nothing special and actually a bit run down. With that in mind, I think it could be my new favorite place to take my son. It is perfect for young kids who like to run off on their own. All the walk ways are fenced in and so a rambunctious 2 year can run with out his Momma fearing he'll fall in the water. Seriously though, Mason loved this placed. Mason picked our course and Maya and I followed behind him. It was mostly shaded and had very few people there. Kid under 3 are free and adults are only $5.

If you haven't been to Tracy Aviary.., check it out.

I FLY

If you're every in Ogden and under 220 lbs, I highly recommend this.., It was awesome! Do people still say awesome? Anyway, my nephew Ethan turned 14 during his trip to Utah and he wanted to celebrate BIG. And this was BIG. I FLY is an indoor sky diving place. It's the closest thing to an actual free fall sky jump. The crew waiting to get going. I'll admit.., I was a bit nervous...., okay really nervous.
Aaron, me and the birthday boy.
And let's be honest..., a blog post really isn't complete with out a cute picture of at least one of the kids. Mason loved this and watched so closely the entire time. If you listen closely on the video you can actually hear his commentary.

Hanging out with my Peeps

You seriously can't tell me that none of you haven't thought about doing this????If you can't tell from the first picture, I'm sure you can tell from the second...., We're roasting Peeps, the delightful Easter treat. They actually aren't bad. The sugar coating gives the marshmallow a thin, crisp shell when heated. If you cook them a bit too long the thin, crisp shell which was initially yummy, turns to a caramelized, rock-hard, nasty piece of yuck. It's a fine line between the yummy treat and yuck.

Swimming

We love swimming almost as much as we love our under water camera. It's so fun and the kids love to play around with it. Hannah, Meredith and Rachel
Mason has started kicking with his feet. It was kind of hard for him to get the hang of it. Finally his cousin Rachel stood behind us and moved his feet to show him how it was down and after that he was good to go. He really has no fear of water which is good and bad I guess. We're planning on getting Mason into swim lessons this summer since he's such a little fish.

Burning the candle at both ends....,

Mason has had his Connecticut cousins in town this week. The weeks before that, his Papa had been visiting. He has loved playing with his cousins and Papa, but it's also meant late nights, missed naps and not so great eating on his part at meal times. I found him this morning in his sister's bouncy chair sound asleep with his beloved 'Oso' in his arms. He had also turned the chair on so it was vibrating. This kid cracks me up. Isn't he adorable??? I just love him to death!

Madelyn and Maya

Maddy was born 4 days after Maya and is the daughter of my good friend Melissa. We hope the girls will grow up to be great friends..., but with our luck they'll hate each other. You can tell from the photo that they are already enthralled by each other.

Maya's Blessing

Maya Isabella Ontiveros was given a name and blessing in the the LDS church by her Daddy. We felt so blessed to have my entire family and the majority of Dan's family there to share the day with us. Maya cried through out the whole blessing, but her Dad did a great job non the less. The Ontiveros FamilyGrandpa Ketchum and Maya
Grandma Ontiveros sent Maya this darling blessing dress. She was so sad she couldn't be there.

Grandpa Ketchum

We have loved having Grandpa Ketchum out for this past month and will be so sad to see him go. Mason was his side kick almost his entire visit. Any place 'Papa' was.., Mason was as well.
The pictures don't quite show this..., but Grandpa Ketchum was a bit apprehensive with little Maya. He loved to look at her and talk to her.., but felt he'd break her actually holding her. That didn't stop me from plopping her into his arms any chance I get. He actually got pretty comfortable with her by the end of his trip.

I adore these kids!

I've tried Maya out in her little gym area this past week. The first time I put her in it, I saw Mason make a b-line to her. I thought for sure he was going to attack her. I tried not to react and just stood back and watched. Mason sat on the floor next her and slowly started to scoot closer to Maya.Mason eventually laid down next to her. I so wish I was quicker with the camera, because the next thing I knew, he pulled Maya's binkie out of her mouth and gave a sweet little kiss.., and the heart of their Mama melted.
These 2 kids being so close together has been a huge challenge. There are days I want to scream, and run away..., or rather I want the kids to run away. Moments like these make it all worth it though. They are at times few and far between, but they keep you going non the less.

Easter Egg Hunt

We went to an Easter egg hunt in my sister neighborhood. I thought for sure Mason was too little and I'm so glad my sister insisted that he needed to go to one this year. It was so much fun. The lawn was split up by ages and so Mason was with the 2 - 3 year olds. Mason had no problem grasping the concept and had a basket filled with eggs in no time. He would grab an egg.., throw it in the basket I was holding, clap his hands, scream 'yeah'.., and then he'd take off running for the next egg. I loved watching him
