Marcus the Carcass

Halloween is Dan's BIG holiday. He loves the entire month and even all things that lead up to the holiday. The leaves changing and air turning cold. In fact, that's one of the reason why we got married in October ..., it was Dan's favorite month and what better way to celebrate then with a wedding anniversary. He especially loves decorating for the blessed holiday. He was excited about this year because he added a few new things to his collection. Below let me introduce you to 'Marcus the Carcass'. He has adorned our flower beds this month. The great thing about Marcus is.., he lights up! what more could you ask for in your flower beds?My idea of Halloween decorating is a touch different from Dan's. I'm fine with a few pumpkins, a corn stalk or two and a hay bale on my door step and I call it good. Speaking of pumpkins...., how can I have a blog entry with out including a picture of our little pumpkin. Mason loves Halloween already. As you can tell.., he's excited about the holiday like his dad. He's been wearing his festive beanie and socks all month!

SOOO BIG!

Our neighbor let us borrow this great little invention. It helps babies sit up straight and build their muscles while providing support so they don't topple over. Mason gets bored with it after 15 - 20 minutes..., but trust me.., some days, even 15 minutes is a huge help for a working mom. Mason is also sporting his Sundance onesie from the film festival. Dan loved it because he's never seen a black onesie for a baby before.
PS - Mason was 3 months yesterday..., or 13 weeks.

Bath Time

Mason loves his baths!
Even at his fussiest times he will calm down instantly as soon as he hears the bath water turns on.

He needs no toys. He loves the warm water and especially the sprays from the shower.

Real Men Wear Pink!

This was the site I found yesterday morning when I got Mason up for the day. The previous night Mason had spent at his Aunt Ruth's house while I was teaching a class for work. Dan picked him up from her house and had put our little guy to bed before I got home. Apparently Mason had spit up on the PJ's I left for him leaving Ruth to find something of her girls for him to wear. Well.., Dan didn't mention any of this to me. You can imagine my surprise as I unwrapped him from his blanket and I saw him in a pink and flowered nightie! Ruth assures me that it shouldn't hurt his masculinity too much and that it's OK for him to wear a nightie because his grandma O actually made it. Perhaps we should have grandma O make him some 'man' nighties.., if there's such a thing???

Mason Blue Eyes

Most babies are born with steel blue eyes. They will change to their permanent color by their 4 month. Some times they stay blue, some time they turn brown or green or a variety in between. Mason, as well, was born with steel blue eyes. We thought that they would change for sure since Dan has light brown eyes and as we all know from junior high science, brown eyes are dominant. Mason is almost 3 months now and his blue eyes are still going strong. There's no hint of them changing and we're thinking we have a blued eyed boy on our hands.

Growing like a weed!

I never quite understood that expression till last summer when I started my flower beds. I took a Saturday in early May last year.., turned over all the dirt (OK, fine.., i had Dan turn over all the dirt).., then I strategically planted all my flowers and plants. I did the same this May. My flower beds looked perfect and there was not a weed in sight! In my naivety, I thought perhaps I would have to weed once a month or so. I was SO wrong. With in a week my perfect flower beds went from perfect to filled with ugly weeds!
After that it was non stop weeding all summer! I could barely keep up with the weeds they were growing so fast. Mason has taken on a weed like form in his growth. Growing every second of every day! Thankfully he's incredible handsome and is only weed-like in his growth. Mason started off as such a little guy. In the last few weeks he has busted into his 3- 6 months clothes and they are fitting him just fine.
As a side note.., I thankfully discovered Pre-Emergent Weed Killer and has cut my weeding in half...., don't worry, we won't be using that on Mason. We like that he's growing..., we just hope we'll be able to keep up.

Mason's Blessing

Yesterday was a great day for our family. Mason was given a name and a blessing in our church. He was able to wear the same outfit that his daddy wore years ago when he was blessed. I couldn't help but think that this is what life's all about.., family. Mason has been such an incredible addition to our family. He has helped us to see what truly matters. Life gets busy fast and we need to take time to cherish the little things.
